CHLORTETRACYCLINE PREMIX

FOR VETERINARY USE ONLY

 

ACTIVE INGREDIENT: 
Chlortetracycline calcium complex equivalent to chlortetracycline hydrochloride 220 g/kg


INDICATIONS AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

To reduce the development of antimicrobial resistance and maintain effectiveness, use this antibiotic prudently and for the shortest duration required to achieve the desired clinical outcome.

SWINE

0.011% (110 mg/kg) of complete feed:

Indication 1) As an aid in the treatment of bacterial enteritis (scours, bacterial diarrhea). Feed continuously as the sole ration following the appearance of symptoms and until 3 days after symptoms disappear.

Note:

1. Pigs off feed should be given individual treatment.

2. Pre-Starters and feeds to be fed up to and including 6 weeks of age are required to contain 0.0220% (220 mg/kg) chlortetracycline hydrochloride.

0.0055% (55 mg/kg) of complete feed:

Indication 2) As an aid in the prevention of bacterial enteritis (scours, bacterial diarrhea). Feed as the sole ration during the period of early growth up to 32 kg (70 lbs).

Note:

Pre-Starters and feeds to be fed up to and including 6 weeks of age should contain 0.022% of chlortetracycline hydrochloride.

22 mg/kg of body weight per day:

Indication 3) As an aid in the prevention of porcine proliferative enteropathy (ileitis) caused by Lawsonia intracellularis susceptible to chlortetracycline hydrochloride. Feed as the sole ration for 14 days.

BEEF CATTLE AND NON-LACTATING DAIRY CATTLE

0.22 mg/kg of body weight/day or 70 mg/head/day in complete feed:

As an aid in the prevention of foot rot. Feed continuously during the period the animals are exposed to this disease.

CALVES UP TO 136 kg

0.0055% (55 mg/kg) of complete feed:

As an aid in the prevention of bacterial diarrhea in calves. Feed continuously during periods of early growth.

CALVES (Milk replacers)

0.0055% (55 mg/kg) of milk replacer powder.

As an aid in the prevention of bacterial diarrhea in calves. Feed continuously during periods of early growth.

TURKEYS

0.0055% (55 mg/kg) of complete feed:

Indication 1) As an aid in the prevention of Hexamitiasis in turkeys. (This disease is not common in Canada. This product may be used on those farms having a history of this condition). Feed as the sole ration for as long as birds are expected to be exposed to infection.

0.011% (110 mg/kg) of complete feed:

Indication 2) As an aid in the treatment of Hexamitiasis in turkeys. (This disease is not common in Canada). Feed as the sole ration when symptoms appear and continue for a few days after symptoms disappear.

Indication 3) As an aid in the prevention of Synovitis and Infectious Sinusitis in turkeys. Feed as the sole ration for as long as birds are expected to be exposed to the infection.

0.022% (220 mg/kg) of complete feed:

Indication 4) As an aid in the treatment of Synovitis in turkeys. Feed as the sole ration when symptoms appear and continue for at least 2 weeks after symptoms disappear.

LAMBS

0.0022% (22 mg/kg) of complete feed:

As an aid in the reduction of losses due to Enterotoxemia in feedlot lambs. Feed continuously as the sole ration while lambs are in the feedlot.

BEEF CATTLE SUPPLEMENTS

70 mg per head per day: Add 320 g CHLOR 100 per tonne of supplement and feed at 1 kg per head per day.


WARNINGS:

1. Treated animals must not be slaughtered for use in food for at least 7 days for swine and turkeys, 5 days for cattle and calves, and 4 days for lambs after the latest treatment with this drug.

2. Do not administer to lactating dairy cattle.

3. When handling the product, avoid inhalation, oral exposure and direct contact with skin or eyes.

4. Keep out of reach of children.


STORAGE:

Store in a cool dry place below 30°C.
