The role of various vitamins in the production of laying hens
Under the restriction of feeding conditions, the uncontrollable nature of the animal breeding industry and the nutrition of feed have become the easiest factor to control. The feed nutrition level has a strong correlation with the immunity and disease resistance of the laying hens. The following will focus on the relationship between vitamins and the immunity of the laying hens.

Although the proportion of vitamins in the compound feed for laying hens is very small, it plays a very important and irreplaceable role in ensuring the health of the body, especially the immunity of the body.

Veterinary multivitamin

1. Vitamin A
Vitamin A plays an important role in maintaining the normal growth, development, reproduction and immune function of laying hens. It can improve the immunity of laying hens. In experiments, it was found that sufficient vitamin A can enhance the immune effect of Newcastle disease vaccine. , The appropriate addition amount in the full-price batch is 9000IU/kg~12000IU/kg.
Excessive vitamin A levels in chickens (sometimes increased by several times) can compensate for the lowered immune function of breeders, such as lowered hatchability, ataxia, blindness, and decreased egg production rate caused by the lack of vitamin A in the early stage.

2. Vitamin D
The laying performance and eggshell quality of laying hens are affected by many factors, but calcium and vitamin D are the most affected. The appropriate amount of vitamin D in the complete compound feed is 2000IU/kg~4000IU/kg.
When the vitamin D in the feed is severely deficient, the laying hens will begin to develop disease within a week (such as rickets, thin-shelled eggs, lower hatching rate of breeders).
Chicken flocks that have entered the peak period of egg production are sensitive to vitamin D deficiency, with large egg reductions and serious losses.
The proper calcium requirement for laying hens is 3%~4%, but production practice shows that even if the calcium supply is sufficient, the problem of broken eggs is still very serious. If extra vitamin D is supplemented by 1~2 times, the calcium absorption problem can be solved well. , Effectively improve the quality of eggshells.

3. Vitamin E (tocopherol)
Vitamin E has an immunomodulatory effect on layer, it can improve immunity and enhance resistance to E. coli and viral diseases. Selenium (Se) and vitamin E are ideal immunomodulators for inactivated Newcastle disease vaccines, which can maintain higher antibody levels in immunized chickens for a longer period of time.
Lack of vitamin E in layer diets can cause low egg production rate, low fertilization rate, and hemolytic anemia. Symptoms such as subcutaneous and intestinal bleeding, whitish combs and other symptoms.
The appropriate amount of vitamin E in the full-price compound feed is 15IU/kg~30IU/kg. When the fertilization rate of breeders is not high and the egg production rate is unexplained decline, the use of vitamin E can be increased, which can be improved to a certain extent.

4. Vitamin C
Vitamin C has anti-stress and anti-infection effects. For chickens that are under heat stress, adding vitamin C can improve egg production, egg shell strength and egg quality to a certain extent.
Even at room temperature, adding vitamin C to the feed can also increase the egg production rate, eggshell quality, fertilization rate and hatchability of breeders.
Like vitamin A, vitamin C also enhances the level of antibodies to Newcastle disease.
Under high temperature, cold, transportation and other adversity and stress conditions, and when the feed energy, protein, vitamin E, selenium and iron are insufficient, the animal's need for vitamin C is greatly increased, but the animal's need for vitamin C is generally not regulated , The recommended dosage is between 100mg/kg~300mg/kg.

5. Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient for the normal growth, reproduction and health of chickens.

When the chickens are lacking, the growth of the chicks is slow and presents an anemic state, the feed utilization rate is reduced, the appetite is poor, and even death, the egg production of the adult chickens decreases, the egg shape is small, the hatching rate is reduced, and the newborn chicks have abnormal bones.

The livers of various animals contain the highest vitamin B12 content. Fish meal, meat and bone meal and other animal protein feeds also contain a lot. There are no animal feed ingredients such as fish meal in many current feed formulas. Therefore, the addition of vitamin B12 should be paid attention to and the recommended amount 3-20μg/kg.

6. Choline
Choline used in feed additives is usually choline chloride, which plays an important role in ensuring the normal life activities of somatic cells, promoting the normal development of cartilage and the normal operation of the nervous system. The typical symptom of a chicken lacking choline is stubby bones. And fatty liver.
Usually the feed for chickens and laying hens needs to be supplemented with choline, and it should be added at any time when preparing full-price feeds at other stages. It is recommended that the amount of feed added per kilogram is between 300mg and 600mg.

7. Make necessary additions during special periods
There are many kinds of vitamin preparations on the market, which can be added during stress, immunity, and disease.

It is worth noting that at the chick stage, B vitamins can be supplemented, and the need for vitamins A and D before laying is increased. At the later stage of laying, pay attention to the addition of vitamin D. When using cottonseed meal in the diet to formulate feed, attention should be paid to supplementing vitamin A. Vitamin C can be added to drinking water in hot season.

However, excessive use of vitamins will not only cause economic waste, but also negative effects.

Reasonable use of vitamin feed resources, especially under the conditions of intensive production, livestock and poultry are prone to nutritional deficiencies and nutritional metabolism disorders, which affect the growth and development of livestock and poultry, resulting in economic losses.

Summary: But there are many problems that really let us choose vitamins. How to choose multi-dimensional products becomes the key. Don't just take low unit price as a prerequisite. Often products with low nutritional levels are products with higher unit costs.
