Virginiamycin Premix 4.4%

FOR VETERINARY USE ONLY / ANTIBIOTIC

ACTIVE INGREDIENT

Virginiamycin, 44 g/kg
 

INDICATIONS

Swine: For the treatment and control of swine dysentery.

Broiler Chickens: For the prevention of necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens susceptible to virginiamycin.
 

MIXING AND FEEDING DIRECTIONS

To reduce the development of antimicrobial resistance and maintain effectiveness, use this antibiotic prudently and for the shortest duration required to achieve the desired clinical outcome.

Thoroughly mix Stafac 44 premix with complete feed in quantities depending on the dosage as per the table below. To ensure proper mixing, the premix should first be diluted in an intermediate blending step prior to adding to the final blend. The medicated feed can be prepared in the form of meal or pellets.

Swine

Required level of virginiamycin per 1000 kg of complete feed

Amount of Stafac 44 Premix per 1000 kg of complete feed

Approximate amount of virginiamycin provided per kg of body weight per animal per day

For the treatment and control of swine dysentery

110 g for 2 weeks followed by:

2.50 kg

5.00 mg

55 g for 4 weeks

1.25 kg

2.50 mg

After cessation of medication at 55 g/1000 kg, if dysentery reoccurs, re-treat with above regimen. The medicated feed is to be fed continuously as the sole ration.

Broiler Chickens

Required level of virginiamycin per 1000 kg of complete feed

Amount of Stafac 44 Premix per 1000 kg of complete feed

Approximate amount of virginiamycin provided per kg of body weight per animal per day

For the prevention of necrotic enteritis

The medicated feed is to be fed continuously as the sole ration from day one to market weight.


CAUTIONS

(1) Do not feed to replacement or breeding chickens. (2) Do not use in feeds containing pellet-binding agents with the exception of bentonite, Pel-Aid, Agri-Colloid, and Lignosol. (3) Do not feed undiluted.


WARNINGS

(1) No withdrawal period is required for swine and chickens when treated according to the label. (2) Do not feed to birds producing eggs for human consumption. (3) When handling the product, avoid inhalation, oral exposure and direct contact with skin or eyes. (4) Keep out of reach of children.


STORAGE

Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C. Keep from freezing.

Keep bag closed when not in use.
